Warwickshire Cricket Board are excited to announce that Castle Bromwich Cricket Club are the latest club to become an ECB Champion Club, following Bablake and Knowle and Dorridge. Castle Bromwich will be offering an inclusive cricket with the launch of a brand new Lord Taverners funded Super 1’s hub starting on May 12th.

This will mean there are free cricket sessions for children and young adults with either physical or learning difficulties to come and enjoy cricket.

I’m delighted that Castle Bromwich have decided to become a Champion Club. I think it’s great that the club want to open their doors to as many new people as they can. The club has really made great strides to change the perception of the club- they have some great people leading the club and that will only lead to good things in the future. To have 2 clubs, one in the north (Castle Brom) and the south of the borough in Knowle shows the great passion for the sport in Solihull as a whole. It will be great when we can get all our hubs with enough participants for our own competition. That’s my aim!

Castle Bromwich are proud to be one of the early adaptors of the ECB Champion clubs. This is a fantastic opportunity to extend the clubs reach into the surrounding community and truly offer a genuine inclusive experience for all.

We have long held the belief that sport is for all and this plus other initiatives can help the club grow into something that the community can be proud to be a part of.â€

Rob has been recently working in schools in the Castle Bromwich area, introducing students to the game with a hope that they want to come and join in after school aswell.

I want to try and make it as natural a progression for students as I can. If I can engage with them at school and show them that cricket really is a sport that they can not only learn to play, but excel at, with a clear pathway if they want to develop further.

They could progress from school cricket, to a hub, to then representing Warwickshire at county level. I want all of these options to be available to everyone that comes to a hub.
