Warwickshire Cricket Board

Warwickshire Cricket Board ran a two Chance to Shine finals at Edgbaston after running local school festivals for schools between April and June. All schools who are part of the Chance to Shine Programme had the opportunity to enter a local cricket festival to compete against neighbouring schools and to give them their first introduction to their local club.

Cricket clubs across Warwickshire were used for Chance to Shine competitions supporting clubs with their recruitment of new players and enabling children to see their local exit routes.
The two festivals held at Edgbaston saw over 500 children from 43 primary schools participate in the two competitions at the international cricket ground to celebrate their achievements in winning their local festivals. There was 110 games of cricket played on the outfield with some fantastic cricket on show.

The sportsmanship of the children displayed throughout the day was incredible with all children behaving within the MCC Spirit of Cricket and enjoying and supporting high standards of play

The WCB would like to thank all schools, teachers and clubs who have supported the Chance to Shine programme this year and look forward to another successful year of cricket in 2018. WCB would also like to thank Edgbaston for giving children such a memorable day.
